Agoraphobia
Morten Birket-Smith, psychiatrist
Agoraphobia is a kind of anxiety which makes it difficult for you to be on your own. Some people are particularly nervous when they are on their own at home, whilst others feel worse when they have to walk on the street on their own, use public transport or queue up in the supermarket. These situations can bring on both physical and psychological anxiety symptoms.
Agoraphobia can be treated effectively with medicine and psychotherapy.
